After trying out Cafe By Juicy Diary for the first time about a year ago, The Husband and I fell in love with their wholesome meals and put it on our list of healthy brunch spots to go to in Taipei. Their nutritious and flavorsome dishes are the perfect start (or end) to a day, filling but guilt-free, and made of top-notch ingredients. What lured me in the first time was their Open-Faced Avocado Toast I spotted on Instagram (They had me at avocado!)
Cafe By Juicy Diary is located in Daan District, close to the Renai circle and in a quiet residential area. Their menu consists of a range of carefully curated, healthy and flavorful dishes; from acai and berry bowls to arugula and fig salads. They are also quite popular in the catering industry, having catered for luxury brands such as Tiffany and Co. and also the iconic French fragrance house, Diptyque. The space itself is modern and simple, with plenty of seating inside and a warm and cozy atmosphere. Last weekend we joined our lovely friend Leslie (@taipeifoodie) for lunch at this popular and hype-worthy cafe to try their new dishes which were added to the winter menu recently. We started off with the beautiful (and totally Instagrammable!) Pink Garden Bowl, which was literally one of the prettiest (and pinkest!) breakfast bowls I’ve seen, and also one of the tastiest. It’s made of dragon fruit, blueberries, strawberries, edible rose petals, almond milk, Greek yogurt and rose water.
After devouring that delicious berry bowl, we moved on to the next dish, the Kale Pumpkin Puree Warm Salad. I’m obsessed with pumpkin AND beet, and when combined in a bowl with roasted chickpeas and kale, I’m SOLD!
Next we had one of the most delicious sandwiches I’ve had in my life; the Roasted Pork Shoulder Sandwich (Leslie’s favorite of the day!) The roasted pork, pickles and jalapenos served on sourdough were the perfect combination and tickled all the taste buds.
Next up was my and Liesl's absolute favorite dish of the day (probably because it reminded us so much of a home cooked meal back in South Africa, and we South Africans love our meat!); the Red Wine Braised Oxtail Gnocchi. The meat was cooked to perfection and literally fell off the bone (DROOL!) It was served with cheese gnocchi, the perfect carb to add to this already perfect dish.
And last but not least, we had the Pasta Pescadores (perfect for seafood lovers!), a mix of shrimp, scallops, octopus, lobster puree and squid ink pasta (It was AH-mazing!)
Along with our meals, Leslie got the Strawberry Banana Smoothie, Liesl the Earl Grey Tea and I had the Hazelnut Latte. They were all delicious and almost too pretty to drink.
I can’t wait to go back and try all the other dishes on their menu. They also serve a delicious carrot cake which is one of my absolute favorite desserts, and also sell fresh and healthy cold pressed juices (by the bottle). Whether you’re looking for a new brunch spot, a healthy and nutritious meal, or a caterer for your next event, Cafe By Juicy Diary has it all. On top of that, they will serve you with a smile. They really care about their customers and made us feel right at home. They're available on UberEats as well, so you can have one (or all!) of their tasty meals delivered right to your doorstep.
