When I heard my favorite vegan restaurant in Taipei opened another branch in my neighborhood recently, I literally jumped for joy! The original plant-based, American owned cafe near Guting MRT station has been around for 4 years, and this brand new one just opened their doors close to the Technology Building MRT.
Ooh Cha Cha is located on the corner of a quiet alley, right off Heping East Road, and just across a small park. They offer outdoor seating with white, picnic style tables and chairs, where you can enjoy your nutritious meal while admiring the park view and other cute shops and cafes in the neighborhood. The interior is clean and bright, with white painted walls and decorative green leaf wallpaper, and even some neon lights; this adds well to their green approach to eating, and to a very calming and relaxing atmosphere.
Their menu is quite extensive and has a range of 100% vegan salads, appetizers and mains. They also have delicious smoothies, hot drinks and some alcoholic beverages. Ooh Cha Cha makes some of THE best vegan burgers in town (they've even converted the meat-loving husband!), so we just went ahead and ordered us each a hamburger. We got the Southwest Burger, which is served with a mouthwatering and flavorful corn salsa and avocado sauce, and the Ricotta Burger, which comes with a cauliflower almond ricotta sauce. Unfortunately, their mushroom patties were sold out, but were replaced with chickpea patties, which are equally as delicious, and actually my preferred choice. We also had some smoothies; the nutritious Body Boost, which is made from turmeric, ginger, apple, pineapple, kiwi and chia seeds, and the Tropical bliss, which is a delicious mix of pineapple, banana, seasonal greens and coconut milk. I’ve been to Ooh Cha Cha a few times and they never disappoint. Their food is always fresh and flavorsome and leaves me satisfied every time. I also love their new location; it’s bigger, offers more seating and the environment is bright and relaxing. If you're vegan/vegetarian, or just in the mood for a little somethin' healthy, Ooh Cha Cha is a must-visit. Go there on a sunny day and enjoy a nutritious meal out on their quaint little patio.
