Timeless. Classic. Comfortable. I could write an ode to these well known two-tone shoes, but I think I'll let these beauties speak for themselves. Tieneke got her pair of white CHANEL lambskin espadrilles at one of their stores here in Taipei a couple of years ago, and I recently acquired these oh-so-classic beige and black CHANEL ballerinas online. I lusted after them for many many moons, and finally took the plunge when I got a great deal from a lady selling her never-worn-but-too-small pair at a very reasonable price.

Sizing
First, let's talk about sizing. This is usually the first thing potential buyers of these shoes want to know. I get it, if you're going to spend the dough, you want to make sure you're getting the perfect size. Tieneke and I both wear US8 / EU38 / UK5. She got the lambskin espadrilles in her regular size and they fit perfectly. I got the lambskin ballerinas in US8.5 / EU38.5 / UK5.5 as I read multiple reviews online stating that these specific ballet flats run small. I didn't have the opportunity to try them on first, so I just crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. Luckily, this pair fits me like a glove and I'm so happy I did my research before purchasing them and deciding to go up half a size. To be honest, I think going up a full size would also work, especially for those warm summer days when your feet tend to swell up a little bit.

Comfort
Now, let's cover another hot question; Are they comfortable? According to Tieneke, her CHANEL espadrilles are some of the most comfortable shoes in her collection. She wore them while traveling (and walking a lot) in Europe last summer and never had any blisters. As for my flats, I can not get over how smooth and soft the leather is. You truly get what you pay for! I rarely walk very far in them, as I don't usually wear them if I know I'm going to be strolling for hours; I guess I want to preserve them for as long as possible.

How To Wear Them
Lastly, let's cover the many wonderful ways to wear them. I love the look of the espadrilles with all types of jeans, white pants, shorts and even leggings. They can really add a little somethin' somethin' to an otherwise simple outfit. As for the ballet flats, there really are very few outfits you can't wear them with. In my opinion, they are probably some of the most versatile shoes ever made. Not only do they amp up an everyday casual look, they are stylish and appropriate for more formal outfits, too.

Final Thoughts
I know I'm going to be getting so much wear out of my flats and that's why, for me, they are well worth the price. The quality and comfort will be hard to beat, and I doubt I'll ever find a better or more versatile pair of ballet flats in my life. So, are you thinking of splurging on a pair of these beauties?
