Tieneke and I headed over to COFFEE DPT recently to try out their new winter menu. This little outdoor cafe is situated in Huashan 1914 Creative Park (華山1914文化創意產業園區), which is in Taipei's Zhongzheng District, and a stone's throw from Zhongxiao Xinsheng MRT station. Adjacent to COFFEE DPT, is DPT- Department, a menswear and lifestyle store, which is also worth checking out, as they have quite a unique selection of products and brands that you don't often come across in Taipei.
If you've been to Huashan 1914 Creative Park over a weekend, you would know that it can get quite busy around there. Luckily, COFFEE DPT is located away from the bustling shops and crowds on the other side of the busier buildings, so it's the perfect spot to go and take a breather and have a coffee or hot chocolate and a sweet treat. There are quite a few tables where you can sit and enjoy your afternoon coffee, surrounded by beautiful greenery, or maybe just to rest your feet after browsing all the unique shops and exhibitions at Huashan.
Their year-round menu offers espresso, lattes, Americano, cappuccino, cold brew coffee and also tea. Adding to their menu this winter, they are also offering hot chocolate and pour over coffee from Ethiopia and Kenya. For snacks, they have cookies, sandwiches and ice cream available
COFFEE DPT Menu
We were quite the hungry girls and decided to try all the tasty treats on their special winter menu, which included the Rich Hot Chocolate, the Pour Over Coffee from Kenya and Ethiopia, the Tuna Melt Sandwich, the Double Chocolate Chip Cookie and also the White Chocolate Macadamia Cookie.
The warm Tuna Melt Sandwich got devoured first; we were so hungry, that sandwich didn't stand a chance against us. Next up we got a hold of those cookies. Now, it's quite well-known among cafe-goers in Taipei that COFFEE DPT's cookies can't be beat. They are thick and gooey and sweet and absolutely delicious! We were literally speechless while munching on them. They are so big and filling, it's practically a meal. I especially enjoyed the Double Chocolate Chip Cookie; it's moist and brownie-like and every bit of decadence you deserve on a cheat day! Both of the coffees were aromatic and delicious, but that Rich Hot Chocolate totally hit the spot. It's rich and creamy, topped with whipped cream and more chocolate. AH-mazing!
This winter, head on over to Huashan 1914 Creative Park, spend a few hours visiting the unique shops and exhibitions, and then go take a seat at COFFEE DPT and enjoy the hot chocolate and one of their famous cookies, you won't regret it!
