You guys should know by now that we are total suckers for any cafe or restaurant that offers outdoor seating, and seeing as it's not that easy to find in Taipei, we jumped at the chance to visit 2J Cafe when we saw that they had a spacious and lush green outdoor seating area. Located just a 5-minute walk from Daan Park and its MRT station is this rustic cafe (which was transformed from an old house). 2J Cafe sits smack bang in the middle of a residential neighborhood, and is surrounded by tall apartment buildings; it kind of gives the feeling of a tranquil little green oasis among its concrete neighbors, especially with its huge garden and the adjoining park.
As you can see from the photos, the cafe is actually way bigger than it looks from the street, and there are so many seating options. You can choose to sit out in the front on the patio, indoors at one of the many tables, or at the outside garden in the back. The space is beautifully decorated and we loved all the little details adding to its rustic charm. Of course we decided to sit outside, and even though it was quite windy, we weren't bothered by it because of all the surrounding trees offering some shelter.
The menu is not too overwhelming and we easily decided on lattes and some sweet treats; Tieneke got Chocolate Cake and I ordered the Honey Toast. 2J Cafe specializes in coffee, but also offers a big selection of teas, cocktails and beer. They also have lunch/dinner options like Lasagna, Buffalo Wings and a range of Korean dishes. You can check out the full menu below.

It was so enjoyable having our tasty drinks and desserts outside in the garden on a warm spring day. The vibe is very laid-back and the service was fast and friendly. 2J Cafe really is a unique gem in the city, and we think it will also be a great place to hang out and have some drinks in the evening. We recommend it for its relaxed atmosphere and, of course, the fact that you can sit outside!
