Some of you might recognize this Aussie-inspired cafe from Instagram, or if you’ve been following our blog from the start, you’ll remember we did a post about them last year and told you all about their AVO-licious breakfasts, and the large kangaroo covered wall (It was one of our very first posts!). But for those of you not familiar with this popular Australian cafe in Taipei, let me give you a short introduction.

The Antipodean is a third-wave coffee shop that is located in Taipei's Neihu District, and was opened by Australian owner, Andy, who moved to Taipei a few years ago. They serve a large range of specialty hot and iced coffees, and has a variety of brunch options to choose from, such as avocado baked eggs, avocado bagels, avocado big breakfast, avocado toast… (it's basically what avocado dreams are made of!). If you’re not an avocado fan, you can enjoy some of their other delicious dishes such as homemade muesli or acai bowls, hearty Australian meat pies (YUM!), paninis, or delicious and fruity tarts.

The Antipodean recently added two mouthwatering new items to their menu (that are totally deserving of a feature here on A Style Alike), and we just HAD to share it with all of you. Well, what are you waiting for? Scroll down to see what we are on about!

Nope, your eyes are not deceiving you; this is an Australian breakfast PLATTER, filled with breakfast foods including eggs and bacon, Norwegian salmon, tomato and rocket salad, grilled halloumi cheese, avocado, mushrooms, baked beans, freshly baked bread, AND house-made muesli and yogurt (served with seasonal fruit). It’s called The Queen’s Platter (well deserving of the name!), and is available on The Antipodean’s secret menu (but not THAT secret, because you can just ask your waiter about it).
We made sure we got pictures from ALL the angles before we devoured this heavenly breakfast platter, so have a look at all the delicious and drool-worthy details below (Look away if you're hungry!).

Another new item on The Antipodean's menu is (drumroll...) Red Velvet Cake! After spotting it on their Instagram stories I have been dreaming and drooling over it ever since, and was wondering if it could beat the champion of Red Velvet Cakes over at Sugar Pea. Well, I can promise you that it was just as amazing! It had the same moist and creamy consistency as Sugar Pea's, and a smooth cream cheese frosting with a hint of lemon, that literally melts away in your mouth. I can't wait to go back and have another slice (or three!)

If you've been on the fence deciding if it's worth the commute all the way to Neihu to try this fabulous Australian cafe, I can guarantee that you won't regret it. It's my personal favorite spot to have breakfast in Taipei, and the quality and variety of their food can't be beat. And did I mention they have outdoor seating?!
