Guys, I promise we're not just sitting around pretty cafes all day every day eating delicious meals and sipping on lattes... but, that's exactly what we did recently at the newly opened BRUN不然. This gorgeous minimalist cafe is situated close to Zhongxiao Dunhua MRT station in Daan District, and also just a hop skip and a jump from the popular Eslite book store by Renai circle; this location is so convenient and can't be beat!
BRUN不然 opens daily at 7am (which is basically unheard of for cafes in Taipei!), and when we rolled in at 9:30am for breakfast, it was already buzzing with families, friends and couples enjoying their meals. The space is way bigger than I had anticipated, and there is plenty of seating options throughout. We were greeted by the friendliest staff, and they kindly seated us by the window as we requested when we made our reservation. They kept it simple when designing and decorating the space, which gives it a modern and minimalist feel.
Throughout the day, BRUN不然 offers cafe classics like coffee, sandwiches, french toast, pastries, bacon and eggs. On top of that, they also serve pastas and rice dishes. You can see the full menu below, in English and Chinese.

Scrambled Eggs (Australian Style)
I already knew what I wanted to order before I got there, as I had spotted this drool-worthy French Toast with Strawberries on Instagram a few times. Tieneke ordered the Scrambled Eggs (Australian Style) which came with a generous portion of bacon, a sausage, bread and tomatoes. Of course we also got lattes. The food was absolutely delicious, and we savored every bite! We would love to go back and try more dishes.
This is such a great cafe, and in a great location! Start off your day with a hearty brunch, and then go browse all the shops and the book store in the neighborhood. Don't forget to make a reservation if you plan on going over the weekend, they fill up fast!
