We recently escaped to Paris for a weekend filled with shopping and dreamy lunches at Parisian sidewalk cafes (Ha ha, I’m just kidding, we actually just popped into the Mandarin Oriental Hotel here in Taipei… A girl can dream!) But, for a second there I thought we were in Paris… didn’t you? The Mandarin Oriental has a stylish Parisian-inspired restaurant, Cafe de Lugano, that's located in the courtyard of the hotel and a spitting image of the French capital’s bistros (with a modern touch), and is the perfect spot to escape the bustling city life. Have a look, and tell me you don’t agree!

We were blown away by the cafe’s stunning interiors; from the retro floors and authentic Parisian bistro furniture, to the chic industrial ceiling and art covered walls. Of course we opted to sit outside on the terrace, and enjoyed our brunch in true Parisian style. They also have a bar, both indoors and outside, so I can only assume that there’s a bit of a party going on over there in the evenings. (They have happy hour daily from 17:00 to 20:00 and an EXTENSIVE list of alcoholic beverages… Just sayin’!)

On their menu you can find some lighter meals such as sandwiches, soups and snacks, and also some mouthwatering mains, from Grilled Lobster and Cheese Burgers, to Beef Bourguignon and Duck Leg Confit. We were there for brunch so opted for something light and fresh; I had the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict and Liesl a Lobster Croissant, along with some of their delicious (and huge!) lattes. Their prices are higher than most cafes in the city, but you get what you pay for - mouthwatering food and a true Parisian dining experience.

If you're looking for a quiet spot away from the bustling city life, go to Cafe de Lugano and enjoy a delicious brunch in true Parisian style. It's one of our favorite new hangouts in the city, and we'll be back for happy hour soon!
