Ciao Ciao Scones 悄悄好食 l Taipei Bakery

I can't tell you how much I've been craving real proper scones, slathered in cream and jam! If you live in Taipei you'll know that it's near impossible getting your hands on a soft, buttery scone; most seem to be rock-hard or way too salty. I finally couldn't resist the cravings anymore and decided to try out Ciao Ciao Scones 悄悄好食, a cute little bakery that many people deem serve the best scones in Taipei.

We popped into one of their locations, which is in Zhongzheng District close to the Huashan Creative Park, one morning just as they opened. They have quite a few seating options, including a small table by the window, a couch area, more seating along the wall and a huge shared table. The space is minimally decorated, and gives it an open and airy feel.

Unfortunately, Ciao Ciao Scones 悄悄好食 didn't have an English menu, but the helpful staff took good care of us and kindly explained to us all of their scones options for the day; there were more than ten creative (and classic) scones to choose from. We decided to try two options each, and also ordered one hot and one cold latte to compliment our baked treats. The scones are served with jams and cream. They also offer croissants and bagels.

We enjoyed the scones and gobbled it all up. Was it really "the best scones in Taipei"? Hmm... I think it's probably as good as it's going to get here. (As a South African I'm kind of a scones snob, and I don't think any scones in Taiwan will ever be able to live up to the ones we bake back home, which tend to be a lot softer, bigger and more buttery.) It definitely satisfied my cravings, and I'll definitely go back if I'm lusting after one again. It's worth a try for sure!
