E G G Y 什麼是蛋澳式早午餐 | Taipei Restaurant

As the name suggests, this restaurant is all about the egg, and serves a variety of delectable eggy creations. Eggcellent! *puts fingers together a la Mr. Burns on The Simpsons*. E G G Y only recently opened their doors in Taipei's Songshan District, but it's already so popular that it's hard to get a table over weekends. You can imagine how eggstatic we were to secure a reservation! This past Saturday we popped over there for breakfast, and to see if it would meet our eggspectations. Okay, I'll stop...

E G G Y is conveniently located only 10 minutes' walk from Nanjing Sanmin MRT station, and its exterior is almost entirely covered by plants and trees. Out front, they have a unicorn. Okay, not really a unicorn, but a lush green lawn, which in Taipei City is almost equivalent to spotting an actual unicorn. As you can see from the interior photos, they offer plenty of seating; there are two comfy couch seating areas by the windows, a long shared table in the middle, and off to the other side there are about five two-person tables. We were seated at one of the two-person tables by the window, which was lovely, although the lighting wasn't ideal for taking food photos #FirstWorldProblems. But, we made it work, by being super basic and carrying our food outside to take photos in natural light. Ain't no shame in our game!

The service was impeccable, and the staff were very attentive and friendly throughout our time there. They even asked us in what order we'd like our drinks and meals served (drinks first, or meals first etc.), which we really appreciated. It didn't take us long to order, as we were quite hungry that early in the morning, and didn't want to waste any time. Here, you can take a look at their full menu:

We both salivated over the poached egg options, so Tieneke ordered the Roasted Salmon and Avocado Mash on Sourdough Bread, and I went for the Smoked Salmon Benedict. We also ordered the Blueberry Ricotta Hotcake to share for dessert, and then of course our breakfast must-haves, two cafe lattes. We asked for our meals and drinks to be brought out at the same time, and the server recommended we give them a 15-minute notice to prepare our dessert (which is served with ice cream, hence the timing aspect).

We really enjoyed our meals, which were flavorful, fresh and cooked to perfection. The lattes also went down well and gave us that early morning caffeine kick we craved. The dessert was an interesting, and delightful, mix of ingredients that I would never thought to have put together, and it was the perfect dish to end our lovely dining eggperience at E G G Y. (Sorry, I just had to throw one more in there!). Definitely go check it out for a scrumptious breakfast, and don't forget to make your reservation ahead of time.
