If you know us, or have been following our blog for a while, you’d know that we both LOVE vegan dishes (although neither of us are actually vegan), and if you happen to be at Ooh Cha Cha (one of our favorite vegan-friendly spots in Taipei) you might just spot us gobbling down one of their delicious hamburgers. We can’t just be hangin’ out at the same restaurants ALL the time, so we’ve been on the hunt for new vegan-friendly restaurants to try out. After discovering so many amazing ones already, we didn’t expect to find yet another vegan gem in Taipei, and were completely blown away by this plant-based restaurant in Xinyi District, Taipei.

Herbivore Vegan is the sister-restaurant of popular vegetarian restaurants, Miacucina and Miopane (read more here!), and is the first entirely plant-based one of the group. Located right in the middle of one of Taipei’s many department stores, Shinkong Mitsukoshi in Xinyi District, it’s ideal for a lunch break in-between a day of shopping, but not quite romantic for, I’d say, date night? However, for us shopaholics it was ideally located, and we will probably be back there sooner than later.

As you can expect from a chain such as Miacucina, the food was delightful and bursts with flavor, is made freshly upon ordering, and only the freshest ingredients are used. With pregnancy cravings kicking in, I’ve been craving all things Thai, so opted for their Soba Noodle Salad; a delicious and healthy mix of kale, soba noodles, edamame, red bell pepper, red cabbage, carrots, zucchini, cilantro, cashews and dressed in lemon and a spicy Thai sauce. Probably THE best salad I’ve had in Taipei! I also had the Carrot Apple juice, which was equally delicious and just what the doctor ordered. Liesl had the Peanut Curry Buddha Bowl that is a delicious mix of sweet potato, chickpea, kale, quinoa, sweet peas, tofu, cherry tomatoes, green onion and roasted peanuts topped with curry. She had the Agave Lemonade to drink, and couldn’t stop raving about how amazingly delicious it was. Scroll down to have a look at our food, and also their extensive menu.
