Lucky for us folks here in Taipei, we are absolutely spoiled for choice when it comes to deciding on a place to go and enjoy a delicious cuppa. In fact, sometimes it's even a little tough keeping up with the booming cafe scene, as there's seemingly a new "must-visit" coffee spot that pops up every other day. So, how do we choose which cafes to go and try out? Well, their "Insta-Worthiness", of course! (Yep, pretty sure I just made up this ridiculous word...).
In this day and age, it's not enough for a cafe to just have good coffee. No sir, you need to bring your "A" game when it comes to interiors, props and good lighting, too. If your cafe doesn't have something visually appealing or unique to offer, we will most likely walk right on by.
Fortunately, many cafes in Taipei understand this, so there are plenty of coffee shops where you can take that perfect Instagram snapshot, on top of getting your caffeine fix. Here are some of our favorites:
FOMO COFFEE is the new kid on the block, and just recently opened their doors in Taipei's Daan District. We can highly recommend their lattes, which are fantastic! For that perfect Instagram shot, head outside with your coffee and get a pic in front of their ampersand logo. Check out more photos, here.
Another newbie is The Normal, and it's also located in Daan District on Renai Road. This is the place to come for really good quality coffee. For that Instagram shot, go outside and take a seat on that bench, and make full use of those beautiful blue walls. Check out more, here.
In Taipei, you are bound to end up on the famous "food street", Yongkang Street, so head on over to Elephant Machine Coffee which is just off this bustling street in a quiet alley. This spot has delicious coffees, and there are also plenty of Instagram opportunities; from the plant-filled courtyard out in the front, to the neon sign inside. You can see more photos here.
We absolutely adore COFFEE DPT, as it's one of surprisingly few cafes in Taipei that offers outdoor seating. Their menu is simple, yet delightful, and they have THE BEST cookies in Taipei, too. Here you'll have a plethora of photo opportunities, as it's surrounded by greenery, and of course you can't beat that natural light. We shared more pics here.
Swell Co. Cafe is one of those places that blew up on Instagram when they first opened, and continues to draw the crowd. Every avid Instagrammer in Taipei has been there, and taken a photo in front of their famous "Have a Swell Day" wall. It's a huge bonus that their coffees are to die for! Definitely worth a visit. Go see our full post here.
Tamed Fox has so much to offer; not only do they have stunning interiors and exteriors, their drinks (and food!) are fantastic. Another favorite among the Instagrammers in Taipei, and with good reason. You will definitely be able to take fabulous photos here, and then you will stay extra long to enjoy some of their famous donuts for dessert, too. See what we ordered here.
Third Floor Coffee is a hidden gem that we discovered on, you guessed it, Instagram. It boasts wrap-around windows, letting in plenty of natural light. On top of this, the space is beautiful, and it offers an urban garden in one of the rooms; perfect for snapping unique and memorable pics! You have to see more photos we took here.
The Antipodean might be somewhat of a mission to get to (not really, I'm just spoiled living in the middle of the city), but it's 100% worth the journey. They got it all; delicious food, quality coffee, friendly staff, and the space is absolutely amazing! Get a table outside for stunning pics on that blue table. Afterwards, head to the side of the building and get that famous shot with their kangaroo logo. See more pics here.
We were first drawn to Santal 29 because of their red velvet cake's reputation. Their lattes are lovely, the red velvet cake is mouthwatering, and the interior is kind of moody and rustic. There are plenty of Insta opportunities to make use of here, as there are interesting nooks and crannies all over the place. Go take a look at more photos here.
In our opinion, One Fifteen has one of the most beautiful interiors of all the cafes in Taipei, no jokes. You can see from the image, it's set in a greenhouse-looking space, with wooden floors, and offers marble tables and lovely greenery. On top of lattes, they also offer light meals, and even bubbly. A must-visit cafe when you're in Taipei! Check out more of our pictures here.
