KiOSK definitely isn't "the new kid on the block" when it comes to the cafe scene in Taipei; more like "the successful, hipster older brother" that everyone seems to look up to for inspiration and guidance. It's been almost four years since they first opened that recognizable blue door, and it's still just as popular now as it was back then, when images like the one above appeared on literally every coffee-lover in Taipei's Instagram feed. When I recently went there again for their signature avocado on toast, the place was basically packed to capacity within the first 10 minutes of opening, with weekend brunch-goers, digital nomads, regulars and barely-awake-I-need-caffeine-ASAP individuals streaming through the doors.

KiOSK is located across the street from the Guanghua Digital Plaza (光華商場), and less than a 10-minute walk from Zhongxiao Xinsheng MRT station on the Blue and Orange Lines. The design of the cafe is a minimalist's dream, with a simple and modern look. Sunlight flows generously through the big windows in the front of the cafe, letting in plenty of natural light and thus allowing for lots of well-lit Insta snaps of your food and the interior. There is seating aplenty; for bigger groups there are sizable tables towards the back, and for individual cafe-goers or couples, there are marble tables by the windows in the front, and comfy couches lining one of the walls. Offering free Wifi, no time limit, and numerous power outlets, it's a good place to go and get some work done on your computer, while sipping on one of their famous Flat Whites.
Other than the popular Flat White, their skilled barista can also whip up an array of other delicious caffeine concoctions like Cappuccino, Lattes and Americano. On top of that, they also offer tea, juice, sparkling water and hot chocolate. Even though the food menu is limited to only a few options, they do make a mean avocado and egg on toast, which is worth going out of your way for. They also have a few desserts available, with the Lemon Olive Oil Cheesecake being the winner, hands down. Here you can see their current menu:

My friend and I each ordered the Avocado and Egg Slices on toast, which is a substantial portion of food, and is served with a fresh cucumber salad. It was delicious, as always, and satisfied those avocado cravings. We also ordered a Caffe Latte and a Flat White, and their in-demand Lemon Olive Oil Cheesecake. Just looking at the photo above of that creamy, airy, lemony goodness, I have to stop myself from salivating uncontrollably. Yes, it really is THAT good!

With the relaxed ambiance, their high quality coffees, satisfying savory dishes, and delectable desserts (served by a friendly staff), it's no wonder this cafe has stood the test of time. That's also why I still consider KiOSK to be one of the best coffee shops in Taipei, even though it's become highly competitive in this coffee-crazed city. But don't take my word for it, go see (and taste) for yourself... and take me with you! Please?
