It feels like I was the very last person in Taipei to have been to Le Blanc, because I can't tell you how many people have recommended it to me over the past few years, and how many times I've had to hear, "Really!?! You HAVEN'T been to Le Blanc!?". This well-known steak and lobster restaurant is in Taipei's Daan District, and sits on the 1st floor of the Swiio Hotel. The space is lovely, with lots of seating for couples and bigger groups, a bar, marble tables and big wrap around windows. The vibe is casual and family-friendly, but still nice enough for a date night. (Plus, they don't have a corkage fee, so feel free to bring along your favorite wine!).
Something I love about Le Blanc is that they have a no-fuss and simple food menu; they focus on a limited selection of dishes, and make them properly and with quality ingredients. Even though I was kind of eyeing their burger (which I've heard SO many people rave about recently!), how could I not try their famous "Surf 'n Turf" combo? Their meals are served with unlimited (and absolutely delicious!) fries, fresh popovers and a soup or salad. They also offer a selection of hearty and mouthwatering side dishes, desserts, and don't even get me started on their extensive selection of drinks, which includes a good variety of wine, beer, cocktails, coffee and tea. Wow! Wow! Wow! We had a fabulous meal, and I'm disappointed in myself for not dining there sooner. Everything was fresh, flavorful and delicious! We started off with some drinks (I got wine and The Husband had a beer), and it wasn't long until the soup and popovers arrived. The popovers totally exceeded our expectations, and I had to stop myself from not gobbling it all up and not having space for my main meal. The sides (Creamed Spinach and Mac 'N Cheddar) were outstanding, and looking at it now on the pictures, I'm literally drooling. Don't miss out, you absolutely have to order it! The prime ribeye steak (served with a horseradish sauce) was juicy, tender and cooked to perfection, and the Boston lobster was delightful, too.
Le Blanc exceeded our expectations, and we're already looking forward to going back and trying more of their sides and the burger, too. We'd recommend making a reservation in advance on weekends, and try to get a table by the window for some beautiful natural light.
