There's a new burger joint in town! Okay, it's not THAT new, they've been open for a few months already. I feel like sheep + pony doesn't really need an introduction, as I've seen them plastered all over my Instagram and Facebook feeds since they opened their doors here in Taipei. I'm sure you've had the same experience; images of juicy burgers and crispy sweet potato chips taken in a cozy, dimly lit space? Like me, you've probably also been drooling over, and lusting after, one of these saucy dishes. I jumped at the chance to try it out when I was in the neighborhood recently, and here are my thoughts on this restaurant that some have deemed, "serves some of the best burgers in Taipei!".
The space itself is absolutely tiny, and they only have a few seats by the bar and a few high tables right outside the restaurant. No biggie, because the weather was lovely when we stopped by in the late afternoon (they open at 4pm), and we jumped at the chance to sit outside and enjoy our meals and drinks al fresco. We immediately ordered drinks; I got a ginger ale, and my friend a root beer. They have quite an impressive variety of craft beers (you can see the full menu below), and also wine and sparkling water. Their food menu consists of four burger options, different salads, and also tacos.

juicy "Butter Chick" chicken burger
My friend and I both ordered chicken burgers, called the "Butter Chick". It is topped with arugula and an absolutely DELICIOUS tomato mayo that goes perfectly with the juicy chicken. It is served with "Golden Yam Yam chips", which are thinly cut sweet potato chips, and completely impossible to stop munching on when the plate is set in front of you.
My friend LOVED the burger, and said it was definitely one of the tastiest chicken burgers she's ever had in Taipei! I regretted not also trying out one of their signature beef burgers, and the much talked about tacos. I guess that's my excuse to go back again soon!
sheep + pony is really a great place to go and enjoy some feel-good food, whether it's on your own or with a group of friends. The staff is so incredibly friendly, and it's easy to see they have a lot of passion for creating quality comfort food. This place is definitely worth a try when you're in the mood for a saucy American-style hamburger, and a refreshing craft beer to wash it down. Grab a table outside for a casual and relaxed vibe!
