One of the things Liesl and I miss most about sunny South Africa is spending time outdoors, so when we spot a cafe in Taipei with outdoor seating we hardly miss the opportunity to visit and enjoy dining al fresco style. I’ve had my heart set on visiting this adorable deli for a while now, not only because of their lovely little patio (and their gramworthy wall!) but also for their variety of healthy deli- style dishes such as organic salads, roasted veggies and more.
Located near the buzzing Yong Kang street, which is filled with small boutiques and souvenir shops, and also Taiwanese, Japanese and Western eateries, you’ll find Take Five 五方食藏 on the corner of Qingtian Street, with a beautiful and inviting patio right at the entrance; a lovely spot to enjoy a weekend lunch with friends.

Inside the restaurant they have plenty of seating as well, where you will be surrounded by display shelves stocking homemade products for sale such as vegetable soups, condiments, jams and more. They also have some imported products for sale such as wine, truffles, cheese, and also local beers and other fizzy drinks. The deli offers a range of ready-to-eat dishes (Have a look at what they have to offer here) and includes healthy options such as quinoa salad, roasted vegetables, lasagna, quiche and soup. We tried a few of their meals, but our favorite dish was the quinoa salad, which is a delicious mix of broccoli, tomato, baby corn, and almond, topped with a yogurt sauce (Yum!). We were however a little disappointed in the tiny portions served, so take that into consideration when planning to dine here. Everything in the deli is priced per gram, unless you order set meals from their menu, so it can get quite pricey taking into consideration the portion sizes.

Take Five MENU
If you love eating healthy, and dining outside (and don’t mind splurging a little on food) I recommend going to Take Five for a relaxing and healthy lunch outside on their patio (If the weather allows!).
