We recently discovered a sweet breakfast spot in Taipei and were completely blown away by this gem, hidden away in a quiet alley near Daan Park. The scooters surrounding the cafe kind of takes away from the exterior and makes it easy to miss, but what waits inside is where the real magic happens. Surrounded by large windows, the space is filled with natural light, creating a bright and serene ambiance, along with the white interior and pops of blue. Small tables fill up the space, with larger tables here and there to accommodate bigger groups. We arrived at 10am and it was packed with people, so if you’re thinking of going, I'd suggest reserving a table in advance.
Their menu is dedicated mostly to breakfast foods, so it’s the ideal spot to enjoy a weekend brunch or an early breakfast (They’re open daily from 8am to 4pm). Their most popular breakfasts include The Whale Big Breakfast and the Avocado Brunch Set, and they also serve omelettes, sandwiches, croissants and smoothie bowls. Liesl opted for a healthy and nutritious breakfast, The Whale Yoghurt, which was a large serving of greek yoghurt, fruit and muesli. I opted for the very delicious Avocado Brunch Set (Seriously one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in Taipei). The scrambled eggs were packed with flavor and the bread amazingly fresh and tasty, like it'd just came from the oven. Have a look at their menu below and our yummy break-feast!

If you’re looking for a nice and relaxing spot to enjoy an early breakfast or brunch, definitely stop by The Whale. Not only is the food DELICIOUS, but the waiters are friendly and food is served swiftly and with a smile. We highly recommend ordering the Avocado Brunch Set or The Whale Yoghurt, and their yummy lattes are not to be missed either. Take note that Wifi is not available here and they don’t accept credit cards, so remember to bring some cash along.
