If you live in Taipei and have never been to one of theDiner's restaurants, you are missing out BIG TIME! Since I moved to Taipei in 2010, theDiner has been a permanent fixture in my brunch repertoire, and it's one of the places I always highly recommend to friends for a scrumptious breakfast in the city. There are three locations in Taipei; in Nangang, Daan and Xinyi Districts. I have never been to the one in Nangang, but frequent the Xinyi restaurant (located on the second floor of ATT4Fun) and the Daan location (on Rui'An Street). Recently, Tieneke and I went for breakfast at the one on Rui'An Street. I especially like this branch, because it's in a fairly quiet residential neighborhood, which makes it feel like you are having a good ol' hearty breakfast at a loved ones' house.
theDiner 樂子瑞安店 (Rui'An) offers plenty of seating in their two-story restaurant, but be warned that they are almost always filled to capacity on weekends, even when you get there super early. When Tieneke and I arrived there at 9:45am, they were already serving the early-early bird crowd and we were taken aback at how busy they were at the time. Luckily we got a table upstairs fairly quickly, and the service was top-shelf and speedy, as always.
Famous for their typical American diner-style breakfasts, you can get anything from classic eggs and bacon with hash browns, to Eggs Benedict, pancakes, omelettes, French toast, cereals, acai bowls and many, many more. And that's just the breakfast foods. theDiner boasts with an extensive menu, adding lunch and dinner options such as burgers, sandwiches, salads, soups, meatloaf, Tex-Mex meals, and an array of appetizers and desserts. If you're wondering about their vegetarian options, don't worry, they have plenty of vegetarian meals available. On top of this, they also serve delicious drinks like smoothies, juices, coffees, teas, sodas, and THE BEST milkshakes you can find in Taipei! For the evening crowd, they have a wide selection of alcoholic beverages available, too. Check out the full menu below.

Tieneke and I were both craving some homey breakfast foods, so she picked the Classic Two-Egg breakfast, and I ordered the Salmon and Avocado Eggs Benedict. We also got lattes; she ordered the Cafe Latte and I got the Brown Sugar Latte. The thing I love about theDiner, is that the food is always good, no matter what you decide to order. You can depend on them to serve you a mouthwatering meal; just sit back, enjoy your meal, and rest assured that you will get your diner-food fix and walk away feeling satisfied. I also find their prices very reasonable for the quality, and quantity, of the food you get.

Go have a cozy breakfast at this Rui'An Street location, or stop by the Xinyi location at ATT4Fun after a day of shopping in the area. With their extensive menu, you are sure to find a meal that will tickle your taste buds!
