Oh, I just love the absolute gems you can stumble upon in Taipei! Another one we recently discovered was A Design & Life Project. This lifestyle and home ware store is located in the historical Datong District of Taipei, just off the well-known Dihua Street. Offering two floors of carefully curated home ware goods, stationery supplies, decorative pieces, vintage items and other imported goods, it's easy to lose all sense of time and find yourself browsing for hours.
It's not hard to be completely overwhelmed when entering the store, because there's so much to take in, and you feel like you want to see everything at once. But this store is one to take your time in; there are items to discover on every possible surface, and you shouldn't be in a hurry, as you might miss out on a hidden treasure. We loved the vintage and industrial feel of the store, and the perfect mix of old and new pieces they have so carefully selected to display.
From vintage keys, clocks and scissors, to storage solutions like beautifully woven baskets and plastic crates, this store offers truly unique pieces for your home. We were drawn to their selection of paper, steel and glass straws; both of us had been on the lookout for eco-friendly straws, so this was the perfect opportunity to pick up a few we can use in our daily lives.
At this point, I also want to mention the extremely friendly and sweet staff. They were absolutely lovely to chat with, and didn't mind answering all of our questions. We also appreciated that they weren't overbearing, and didn't shadow us around the store (which very often happens to us when shopping in Taipei.)
We can't recommend this store enough! Whether you are on the lookout for some exceptional pieces to decorate your home, or a unique gift, you are sure to discover something special here. Take a detour from the busy Dihua Street, and go see for yourself!
