I rarely (actually, who am I kidding... NEVER!) pass up the chance to go "treasure hunting" in a general store, and here in Taipei we are lucky to have quite a few great options of curio shops. I recently wandered into 30 SELECT, a popular general store in Taipei's Zhongzheng District close to Taipower Building MRT station, and wasn't disappointed by their variety of carefully selected goods; including household items, accessories, clothing, stationery and more. They even have a little coffee shop where you can get a coffee to-go.
The store has lots of character and an industrial-vibe going on with exposed brick and cement floors. And even though the space is filled to the brim with plenty of unique and curated items, they are displayed beautifully and in an organized manner, and you won't feel overwhelmed by the selection. It's such a great shop to go browsing, and perfect if you're looking to buy something unique for your home, or a gift.
30 SELECT carries quite a few unique (and sometimes hard-to-find in Taipei) brands, including some of my personal favorites like P.F. Candles Co., Schmidts Naturals, Tools to Liveby and Dr. Bronner's. You can see the full list of all the brands they carry over on their website, here. I've never heard of the brand, SPUTNIK before, but they have the coolest pet accessories including collars, harnesses, leashes and even little backpacks for your dog (I can see The Husband rolling his eyes right now...). I guess I know now where I'm buying Toby's Christmas presents this year!
We enjoyed taking our time browsing their items, and appreciated that the staff was warm and friendly, but didn't follow us around. Of course I couldn't leave the shop empty-handed, and decided to get the Black Fig Soy Candle by P.F. Candle Co., a new glass straw by GOODGLAS and one of their unique canvas tote bags.
If you're in the mood for a treasure hunt, or need to find a unique gift, this is the shop for you! I would highly recommend heading over there to have a look around, but if you're not able to make it out there and would still like to shop with them, you can visit their website to shop online.
