Ever since we spotted this gem on Instagram, it's been at the top of our "Cafés to Visit" list in Taipei. I mean, who can resist all that rustic glamour along with that smoky grey wall a.k.a the perfect backdrop for photos? Their name adds the perfect touch of style, written in a silver font, and definitely reminiscent of the famous perfume house, Le Labo.
The interior of Santal 29 is out of this world. The vintage furniture adds to the rustic feel, and pops of turquoise and blue makes for beautiful pictures everywhere. It has a stunning tile floor and your choice of wood or marble tables. The café has a dark and smoky feel to it, so to ensure natural light it is better getting a table by the window. We got there early and had the place to ourselves for quite a while, just enough time to take all the pictures our hearts desired.
It is situated in Taipei's Daan District and was very easy to find, and also close to a small park and surrounded by cute little shops; thus perfect for a shopping spree after sipping on lattes and devouring some desserts. Their menu has quite the variety, consisting mostly of light meals and Asian dishes, and our favorites; lattes and dessert. But before we get to the food, feast your eyes on the beautiful interior this café has to offer.

Liesl and I had been dreaming of their famous red velvet cake for weeks, so we just went ahead and ordered us each a slice. Who says you can't have dessert for lunch? However, we didn't quite stop there. We also got apple pie to share, and of course, lattes. I had the cinnamon honey latte, and Liesl the caramel flavored one. Both were delicious, but the red velvet cake was by far our favorite! It was so creamy and moist that it literally melted away in our mouths. The total amount of our bill was about 950NT. Scroll down and be prepared to drool...

I'm already daydreaming about my next trip to Santal 29 and have been recommending it to my friends. The stylish interior, delicious lattes and oh-so-dreamy red velvet cake are enough reasons get me there in a heartbeat. Until next time!
