Shi Jian Tea House has been on my radar for a while, so Tieneke and I decided to pop into this exquisite little spot while in the neighborhood. Located in Taipei's Xinyi District, and across from Songshan Cultural Park, you can see its all-white exterior and large windows as it sits brightly on a corner.
Stepping inside, we were met with a bright, minimalist and elegant interior. The tea house is small, but the large wrap-around windows lets in plenty of light, which tricks your mind into thinking it's much more spacious. At the counter, you will spot the tea sommelier preparing teas, which fills the tea house with a delightful, earthy aroma. We were impressed with the tea sommelier's knowledge of all the teas, and appreciated him taking the time to chat with us about the teas they offer and where they are from. You can taste some of the teas they are preparing, and also buy tea leaves (which I think would make a lovely gift for a fellow tea-lover!). Other than that, you can enjoy a hot or cold brew while sitting by the window and basking in the sunlight and pleasant atmosphere.
After tasting a few of the teas they were preparing at the time, I opted for a Light Roasted Oolong Cold Brew, which is one of my favorite local teas. The cold brews are available for purchase to take out, or to enjoy in the tea house. We took our time savoring the simple, light and refreshing tea while taking photos in the lovely space, and sitting down by the windows to enjoy the ambiance.
