Toasteria Cafe

A trip to Taipei wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the popular, and totally hype-worthy Toasteria Cafe (a.k.a. the restaurant that serves THE best grilled sandwiches in town!) With their Mediterranean comfort food, delicious wines and mouthwatering paninis, it’s a favorite among locals, and buzzes with people from morning to evening.

Toasteria Cafe has been around for years, with their original location being in the Zhongxiao Dunhua area. Close to the popular "foodie street", Yong Kang Street, which is lined with a bunch of well-known restaurants, you can find this beautiful restaurant. Both locations are very popular and it's best if you reserve a table in advance, unless you are prepared to wait before being seated.

Liesl and I visited the stunningly beautiful Yong Kang branch recently, which is the work of JC Architecture and the lead designer for this project, the talented Maria Isabel Lima. The restaurant boasts with not one, but four beautifully designed floors; filled with gold hardware, marble tables and sunlit rooms. They even have a cozy little spot (definitely the favorite of many, and totally Instagrammable!) where you can sit back on large turquoise pillows and dine in Japanese style at a gorgeous hanging table on the second floor. The restaurant has floor-to-ceiling windows, that allows for tons of natural light, and they even have a bar where you can sip on some cocktails, martinis or wine.

Liesl and I arrived early and filled our bellies with some of their delectable breakfast options. I was craving something more to the sweet side, so I opted for the Bailey’s French Toast, which was a lovely combination of delicious fruits, french toast, maple syrup and mascarpone cheese. Liesl had the Classic Breakfast, which was a traditional breakfast with toast, bacon, eggs and fries, served with some yogurt and pickles on the side. Of course we couldn't go to Toasteria Cafe and NOT have one of their famous grilled sandwiches, so we also got the Three Cheese toasted panini to share, which is topped with a generous amount of feta, cheddar and smoked Gouda. (I'm drooling as we speak!) Scroll down to have a look at their Mediterranean inspired menu and also our delicious meals.

Toasteria Cafe also has a Take Away section outside at the entrance, where you can quickly stop by and order your food to go. They have a large menu displayed on the wall, making it super easy for you to pick and choose what you'd like to order.

I'm already excited to go back and try every single sandwich on their menu! They also recently added some new hummus dishes which look and sound DE-licious (who can resist hummus topped with lamb?!) Well, whether you’re in the mood for a martini and tapas at the bar, or some paninis and lattes in the restaurant, Toasteria Cafe literally has something for everyone. Their food is tasty, flavorsome and affordable, and who doesn't love enjoying their meal in a gorgeous, sunlit space?
