Daydream with W Taipei | Summer Staycation

Not being able to travel abroad this year, as we usually do during our summer break, The Husband and I decided to treat ourselves to a weekend stay at the swanky W Taipei, one of the coolest 5-star hotels in the city; both to celebrate summer vacation and also for our "baby moon".

This summer, W Taipei is offering a staycation package called, "Daydream with W Taipei", which includes a bunch of awesome perks, including late check-out, food and beverage vouchers (worth 4000TWD), complimentary cocktails, and a chance to win extra prizes like spa and restaurant vouchers, wine and lots more. The biggest selling point for us was their amazing pool, where we naturally ended up spending most of our weekend.

Location and Neighborhood

The location of W Taipei can't be beat; situated in the bustling Xinyi District mere meters away from Taipei 101, Breeze Center, ATT4Fun and plenty more, there's so much to do (and eat) in the neighborhood. (Not that you're going to want to leave the hotel, but just in case!). The hotel is also in walking distance of Taipei City Hall MRT station on the blue line. Very convenient!

Facilities and Spaces

The main attraction for us was W Taipei's AWESOME pool! Nice outdoor pools are hard to find in Taipei, and this one is absolutely fabulous, if not the best one in the city! It's located on the 10th floor between The Kitchen Table restaurant, WOOBAR and the WET Bar. They have the most comfortable loungers surrounding the pool (plus big umbrellas when that summer sun starts beating down on you). The vibe by the pool is lively, with music playing throughout the day and evening, waiters serving snacks and drinks, and guests of all ages enjoying the pool.

To avoid sharing the pool with too many others (like on this Saturday afternoon) book your stay during the week (room rates are lower, too!), or head to the pool early in the morning or in the evening.

Chilling outside by a nice pool was my only request for our "baby moon". (Oh, and to keep the snacks coming!) Here our baby girl is already at 21 weeks! I really appreciated the thick mattresses/padding on the loungers by the pool, it was really comfy to hang out there with my pregnant body.

We also made use of the Fitness Center on the 12th floor (which is very well equipped and spacious). Next to the gym you'll also find the Away Spa, and kind of hidden away are saunas, steam rooms and hot baths which are free to use when you're a guest of the hotel.

On the 31st floor is another restaurant, YEN, which we didn't go to this time, but I know has an amazing afternoon tea set with great views of Taipei 101 and the city.

Rooms and Rates

W Taipei offers a big selection of rooms; we stayed in one of their "Spectacular" rooms, which offers floor-to-ceiling windows with a view of Taipei 101 and the city. We loved the king-size bed, which also has the most comfortable pillows EVER! The room is spacious, comfortable and beautifully designed, and we really wouldn't have minded spending the whole weekend in there.

Restaurants, Food & Drinks

Even though this was our first time staying at W Taipei, we've been there a few times to eat at The Kitchen Table restaurant. They serve a delicious breakfast buffet (which we thoroughly enjoyed each morning!), and then they also serve lunch and dinner buffets, which we didn't attend during this stay and instead indulged in room service. The buffets have a good selection of local and Western options, and is really worth the money. We also ordered drinks and snacks from WOOBAR while chilling at the pool, and like I said, would love to attend their afternoon tea at YEN one day.

We LOVED our 2-night staycation and we HIGHLY recommend this hotel (and especially the Daydream with W Taipei Package). We will absolutely stay here again!
