呆宅 Just Stay | Yilan B&B | Taiwan | A Style Alike

If you live in Taiwan and are looking for a quiet, calm and relaxing place for a rejuvenating (or romantic) weekend getaway, look no further than 呆宅 Just Stay, a modern and beautifully designed B&B in Yilan. The B&B is surrounded by green rice paddies and mountains in the distance, and the perfect place to go to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We were floored by both the beautiful scenery surrounding the B&B, and also the building itself; the architecture and design offers a mix of modern accents like bare concrete walls and white marble tabletops, but also lots of wooden elements and vintage furniture. The attention to detail is obvious, with lots of unique pieces decorating the rooms. It's really the ideal place to get to fast (only an hour's drive from Taipei!), and then take it slow.

FACILITIES & SPACE

呆宅 Just Stay is quite a uniquely designed B&B; the building has three sections with different levels, and the tallest section reaches four floors. They offer nine gorgeous rooms, which are located on floors one to four. There's also a huge common area on the first floor as you enter the property, which has a well-equipped kitchen, a dining room, and more lounge-style areas. Outside is a big pond and a garden of trees, and a deck area with a large table. There are also a few parking spaces next to the building.

The kitchen has a water dispenser where you can fill up your water bottles free of charge; they offer sparkling water, cold water and warm water. This is where the staff whips up the delicious complimentary breakfast in the morning. (They can kindly adjust their local-style breakfast to a more Western one if that's what you'd prefer.) The hot latte was my favorite!

ROOMS

呆宅 Just Stay offers nine guest rooms; there are eight double rooms and one family room. Each room is uniquely and tastefully designed, and offers quality, hand-picked amenities. The rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows, and the views of the surrounding mountains, rice paddies and river is breathtaking! We booked two rooms (it was me and The Husband, and my mom visiting from South Africa). The Husband and I got the gorgeous fourth-floor duplex room, which is very spacious, with an open-plan lounge area and bathroom (with a tub and shower!), a comfortable bedroom upstairs, and also a small balcony. The room has a lot of cool touches, which made our stay extra special.

My mom's room was on the first floor, and had two huge beds, a lounge area, and a spacious bathroom. From her room she could go outside where she had her own private deck area.

LOCATION & NEIGHBORHOOD

呆宅 Just Stay is located in Dongshan Township in Yilan County, which is just south of Yilan City. By car it's only an hour's drive from Taipei City, but you can also take the train or a bus to Yilan and then a taxi to the B&B. 呆宅 Just Stay is surrounded by green rice paddies and mountains in the distance. A river flows by there, and there are plenty of trails in the neighborhood where you can go for a leisurely stroll or a bike ride. The B&B is quite secluded and there aren't convenience stores, restaurants or shops within walking distance of it. Plan ahead and bring everything you need if you don't have your own transportation, or if you don't plan on leaving the B&B for the duration of your stay.
